EUT102

The Engadin royal discipline

on the breathtakingly beautiful panorama trails

The runners start at 11 p.m. in front of the Chesa Planta in the historic center of Samedan for their great adventure . The final tactic can be planned in the first ascent to Marguns, as this part of the route is identical to the final section.

Passing Lej Alv and Corviglia, the participants move on the trails near Sass Runzöl, with a fantastic night view of St. Moritz and the entire Upper Engadine. This is followed by the first descent to the first refreshment point in Celerina.

The route continues from Celerina over the Stazerwald and Alp Staz to the second ascent to Muottas da Schlarigna. After a very technical descent, the runners reach the valley floor again.

Passing Pontresina, it goes to Punt Muragl. From there, the route follows the venerable funicular railway up to Muottas Muragl, probably the most popular viewpoint in the Engadine.

The longest ascent of the competition ends higher up on the Fuorcla Val Champagna, where the runners also reach the highest point of the route (2818 meters above sea level).

The subsequent descent through Val Champagna is extremely demanding and the athletes will not mind finding a somewhat flatter route in the direction of La Punt.

After the La Punt-Chamues-ch passage, where the largest refreshment point is located halfway through the route, the route leads in the direction of Zuoz and on to Munt Seja, where you will be surprised by another breathtaking panorama with a view of Zernez.

Via Lej da Prastinaun and Alp Arpiglia it goes down into the valley to the refreshment point in Zuoz, La Resgia. Then the route passes through the historic center of Zuoz, probably the most beautiful in the whole of the Engadin. The hard ascent to Chamanna d'Es-cha begins in the village, leaving only a short time to enjoy.

From the Chamanna d'Es-cha you have a wonderful view of the Bernina massif. Freshly fed, you follow the high path under the flank of Piz Kesch along to Fuorcla Gualdauna and across the Val d'Alvra down towards La Punt. There the route joins the Via Engiadina, a wonderful trail towards Bever, where another refreshment station is waiting.

Freshly strengthened, the final ascent to Alp Muntatsch and on via the Padella panorama trail with its picturesque view, again towards the Bernina massif, to Marguns. From Marguns there is a descent towards Samedan, where the well-deserved destination is in the Promulins Arena.

The EUT102 is completed on the principle of partial self-sufficiency. The participants eat independently between the posts and have the obligatory material according to the competition regulations with them along the entire route.
